Okay, I just realized that the deadline for reporting the National Merit Scholarship is May 28. I have almost no idea where to send my scores, as I have no idea where I am going yet.

I am allowed to send it to two colleges. One I will send to U of Iowa (on my list to apply to - safety), but where should I send the other? Am I allowed to have the National Merit reported to more than two schools?

Help me please, I do not know much about NMS... any information would be useful!

If you are currently a junior with a high PSAT, and you are talking about the card that is given to semifinalists where you can list two schools that you are interested in, it doesn't really matter all that much which schools you list at this point in time. Schools that are interested in NMF's will get a list from the College Board anyway, and you will get lots of mail in the next few months.I would go ahead and put U of Iowa on it, along with another school that you are really interested in that perhaps has good merit scholarships. Next Fall, if you are a finalist, you will be given a card where you will have to name your FIRST CHOICE school by the Spring of your senior year. That school is the one that you will have to give more thought to in order to maximize your merit aid.As you start to narrow your college search, always ask each school what they offer NMF's, and when the date for that particular school is to name them as a FIRST CHOICE--it varies from school to school, and some require it by March 1st of next year. So--don't fret about which schools you put on the card now--just put two schools down that you think that you may be applying to.

Thanks! I'm not a finalist - I am in the top 50,000. I'll find out if I'm a commended student or a semifinalist in September. I hate the wait! :(
