I'm a semifinalist who has been accepted to Fordham early action, and I'm wondering when I will find out if I have received the full tuition semifinalist scholarship or not. Also, if my school does not rank but I have over a 4.0 GPA, what will Fordham do? If I sent both in, does the board look at my ACT score (great) or my SAT score (good)?

I was in nearly the same situation two years ago. My school didn’t rank, but my guidance counselor noted (in her rec letter, maybe?) that my GPA put me in some top percentile. I got the NMSF scholarship award letter in my big envelope; if you’ve been accepted but haven’t yet received a fancy maroon folder (or whatever they’re wrapping acceptances with these days), just watch your mail.

If you sent in both score sets, I should think Fordham would look at both and count the better.

I’m a semi finalist too and really wanna hear about the scholarship. It’s already mid December and I’m hoping we receive some sort of official packet tomorrow.

My DS received his formal maroon folder this afternoon with early acceptance to RH and Gabelli, but there was no indication of any scholarship award in the various letters. He is a NM Commended student with fairly high test scores. We are hoping for some merit aid from Fordham. I look forward to seeing something soon as we have already heard some favorable news from Tulane.

I (and the only other National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist I know) both got our letters today, in a big envelope with a maroon folder inside. We were both granted the “Semifinalist Scholarship” which included full tuition and guaranteed housing for 4 years. I’m pretty sure all Semifinalists receive this package.

I didn’t receive it, I only received the Dean’s Scholarship. I’m not sure why, because I met all the criteria. In the past, there have been applicants who have not received the full-tuition who have had scores upwards of 2300 and outstanding records.

Congrats MGMT!

I’m confused about this too because I’m a national merit semi-finalist and received my maroon folder, but there was no mention of any merit aid at all, not even a dean’s scholarship… does this mean I’m not getting any merit aid at all? My GPA is a 4.24 W (ranked 3/272) and my SAT Score is 2110: 700 M 740 CR 670 W

i received the semifinalist scholarship today

Final financial aid decisions are in April. If you’re a NMSF, it’s probable (though not certain) that you’ll get the semifinalist scholarship by then

Never mind, I received it. Are all of you who received it definitely going? I think it’s a great deal for an amazing school.

S also received his acceptance package with no mention of merit or financial aid (we filed the CSS Profile long ago). He got the early email which we thought would mean some kind of merit award. I guess not.

Received Dean’s scholarship in the mail. The merit amount is too small for real consideration. However, the acceptance package the amount may increase. My parent did not file for FAFSA.

Is there anyone else in the same boat that I am: received only the Dean’s scholarship despite being a National Merit semifinalist?
I’m within the top 5.5% of my school, missed the top 5% by a couple of spots. Other than that, my academics fall within the qualifications listed for the Semifinalist Scholarship. Is there any way to appeal to the scholarship office about this?
