Notifications anyone? I know that some of those who didn't make it received letters. Was wondering if anyone got letters of finalist status?

They'll be out sometime in February.

S hasn't heard anything. kiwiskimo, do you know anyone who got a reject letter? We don't know anyone who has heard either way. THe school will know first week Feb.

There is a thread on this website for current seniors who DID get reject letters, which came around Jan 7 to 10th. The thread is in the section on SAT and ACT tests, and you have to scroll back a couple of days. It was started around Jan 10, no, actually sooner by someone worrying about his GPA ruining his prospects for being a finalist.

Those who didn't get them apparently will be finalists. I did call National Merit Corp after reading that thread to find out what was going on. Apparently they do send out reject letters in early Jan, and finalist letters in February.

Best wishes!

Also, is anyone parlaying the NM finalist award fto get a partial or full tuition ride?

I was wondering specifically about U. Alabama. Does anyone have any info about that college and full rides (besides that full rides are available?) Is it worth it to attend with a full-ride NMF scholarship?

I got nothinggg... but does anyone know if they send out notifications if you have been commended?

If you were commended, the school would have notified you way back in November.

OK, thanks. That means that not hearing anything is good!

So if you still haven't received a rejection letter, there's a high chance that you're a finalist? I hope so...

And what's the last date we can still change our first choice college? Most colleges require that you put their school as your first choice in order for a scholarship offer based on NM.

cant you just turn in the card they give you before May or so?
Does any of this information apply to National Achievement too because it would make me mildly hopeful.

What was the minimum score to get commended?

Because I was in the 97th percentile and I assumed that I would be commended.

202.

turn in the card to declare a college by feb. or march to ensure a college can pick you in their first round, esp. if the college of your choice only has a limited number of NMF scholarships to give away and will only choose in the first round

rather be safe than sorry

hey mcvcm92, what state are you in? because I got the exact same score and percentile and I am in Michigan and I got commended. Check the cutoff scores for your state just to be sure though. But here in Michigan the cutoff for commended was 200

The commended cutoff has usually been at the high end of the 96th percentile.

Tomorrow :o

Yeah, idkkk... I got the 97th percentile, so I was assuming that I would be commended because like firefly said, it is usually like 96th percentile. And I am from NY which is usually somewhat high.
