National Merit Semifinalist Cutoffs Class of 2023 Released

Continuing the discussion from Class of 2023 National Merit discussion:

The National Merit Semifinalist Cutoffs Class of 2023 were announced for some states. Let’s update the list once new information is made available.

I made this a wiki post so anyone can edit and add to the list.

UPDATED 9:00p Central 8/5 from Compass FB page:

Alaska = 210
Arizona ≤ 218
Arkansas = 210
California ≤ 220
District of Columbia = 223
Florida = 216
Georgia = 218
Idaho ≤ 215
Illinois ≤ 219
Indiana ≤ 215
Iowa ≤ 214
Kansas ≤ 215
Kentucky ≤ 213
Louisiana = 213
Maryland = 222
Massachusetts ≤ 222

Missouri = 213

Isn’t the link slightly different? It is saying the score for a CERTAIN state can be NO HIGHER than X, rather than saying X is the cut-off score. In a few cases, it looks like there are indeed absolute cut-offs.

Am I reading the link incorrectly?

What’s what is meant by <=. That’s because in most cases someone has reported a score that did qualify but no one has yet reported a lower score that did not qualify. In a few cases they have which is when they use simply =.

Can’t seem to update the wiki, but updated numbers from Compass as of tonight (9/1):

Alabama <= 214
Arizona <= 218
Arkansas <= 213
California <=221
Florida = 216
Idaho <= 215
Illinois <= 220
Indiana <= 215
Kansas <= 215
Missouri = 213
Nebraska <=213
North Carolina <= 218
Ohio <= 221
Oklahoma <=213
Pennsylvania = 218
Tennessee <= 216
Texas <= 219
Washington <= 220

I would suggest just providing a link to Compass Prep, rather than cut and pasting what it says for the next few weeks.

Thanks, @mdpmdp! I updated the original post.

@RichInPitt, I think it’s nice to have that info in the forums as well, so let’s please update the list with the new info. Thanks!

Northeast Boarding School :223

My kid just missed it :roll_eyes: since they are taking the max over states, not the state.
