I put Rice down as one of my top two schools when I received the letter informing me that I was one of the top 50,000 scorers on the PSAT, so they sent me a letter detailing how to apply for free.

Unfortunately, I have misplaced this letter, but I still have the envelope. Does anyone know how to take advantage of the free application and whether I would be able to do this with just the info on the envelope?

I did the same and here’s the email they sent me:

Congratulations on your designation as a “High Scorer” on the PSAT, and thank you for listing Rice as one of your top two college choices with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

In recognition of your status as a “High Scorer,” Rice will waive the $65 application fee. This fee waiver has been added to your computer record at Rice.

Rice is an exclusive user of the Common Application. To activate your application fee waiver from the Common Application website, go the Payments section of your Common Application. Select Fee Waiver Request, then Other. Click the checkbox and save.

My staff and I look forward to getting to know you better throughout your senior year. Feel free to contact us whenever you have questions about Rice.

Thanks so much, westhamunited32, I still have to finish up my supplement before I can do that, but its a real relief knowing that I didn’t miss out on the opportunity to save $65!

I don’t remember being able to do that in Common App last year…in case it doesn’t work, just pay normally, and call up Rice to tell them what happened. I did this and they sent me a check in the mail to refund the app fee =]

…yesterday I got a letter telling me that Rice would waive the fee for me because I had good AP scores?? Are they basically waiving the fee for like 50,000 people or something?
