National Merit semifinalists = acceptance into top schools?

<p>DD’s scholarship was through the corporation that DH worked for at the time; they awarded two NMF scholarships that year. It worked out in favor of DD because the scholarship amount through the corporation was more than the amount if funded by the school. I couldn’t care less how selective the award is perceived to be or not; the scholarship money was certainly welcome in our family.</p>

<p>And augustagurrl, be proud of your NM standing. There are lots of other kids out there who would like to have accomplished what you have.</p>

<p>For the majority of colleges in the country, however, being a National Merit scholar is a big deal.</p>
