National Merit

Have the awards been sent out for NMSF/NHRP/NAS yet? The College Board website says theyre sent out in September. Has anyone received their certificate or letter yet?

They should be sent to your HS and is up to your school and it is up to your school to arrange for notification. At my D’s school, the GC will prepare a folder for each NMSF with the info and give to the students during the first or second week of school.

Schools are notifying last week and next week. Look for the ‘Class of 2016 NMSF/NMF Qualifying Scores’ thread on this website where cutoff scores were posted yesterday - you can figure out if you made the cut for your state.

My D got the National Hispanic Scholar certificate late this summer. We are in central Texas. As far as National Merit, her school hasn’t given her any notice. Impressed that the above poster’s school had it so organized they were able to give out the info on the first/second week.

That’s odd. I didn’t receive anything for Commended or NHRP (Had a 205) and I submitted my application for NHRP in May after I was told my score had qualified and I had above a 3.5 GPA (Counselor put down a 97 for GPA). Or maybe I did receive the letter but my parents threw it away thinking it was junk. Oh well.

@JoseAMendez hola amigo - at least call and check on it! That award is a big deal.

Is there a website that lists the semi-finalists?

The thread for National Merit has the cut off scores for each state. Appears legit. Texas has the highest PSAT qualifying score at 220. Commended for every state is 202.

My D made the cut off score but nothing from her school yet, but that’s OK. They aren’t super high strung about that stuff.

Yeah, JoseAMendez- I would contact NHRP and definitely ask. You want your certificate. And as far as Commended status, I think that comes out later. Good luck!

Oh BTW, I meant that Texas had the highest qualifying score at 220 for Tx’s PSAT qualifying scores history.

DC and NJ usually has one of the states highest scores.

@JoseAMendez señor - ¿todavía estás allí? ¿Qué vas a hacer?

@Nerdyparent Going to email the NHRP and see what’s up. Thanks for the reply.

My school notified students last week. We were told to keep it hush hush and let nobody know, because all names will be released to the media on September 9.
