Is it possible to get recognized through National Merit and National Hispanic? I got a letter from National Merit but nothing from the Hispanic one, and yet, other hispanic friends of mine have gotten letters from hispanic for lower psat scores! They didn't get national merit letters, though. Are you only allowed to get one? How does this work?

I'm confused, too... I'm now going to hijack this thread a little, I apologize:
My friend got a National Merit letter, but I didn't... and she had much lower scores than I had! I don't want to sound like an idiot and go pester my guidance counselor... but something sounds fishy here...

^^ That's weird. I'm not sure about how that one would work, LesOs.

But I think you're only allowed to get one of them so if you got merit, you probably wouldn't get the Hispanic one.

Wait wait, I thought you didn't find out about National Merit stuff until September? Now I'm a bit worried... I didn't get anything. I had a 221 and I thought that would be at least commended...

"But I think you're only allowed to get one of them so if you got merit, you probably wouldn't get the Hispanic one."

This is right, you can only get one or the other. Be glad, National Merit is more prestigious than just Hispanic.
