I just recieved notification that I am a National Merit Finalist a few days ago. Do i need to notify the schools I applied to that my status has changed from Semifinalist to Finalist, or does some kind of list automatically get sent to all colleges?

You have to notify them yourself. I did it a couple of days ago, the trick is to write one good generic email and then copy and paste it. If you applied to Duke, they don't seem to have an appropriate admissions email address. I guess I'll have to write them an old-fashioned letter (snail mail).

If you applied to GW, they don't seem to have an email address for the admissions office either...

But yea, e-mail/snail mail your schools with your status. I did it last week and got some nice replies.

Nonono, I don't think snail mail is the way to go. At this point, faxing is a much better bet - many schools are beginning selection committee soon, no?

alright. thanks so much!
