How do employers in New England and nationally view NEU's engineering program? Employers in Boston have definitely heard of Northeastern, but what about potential employers in say CA or other parts of the country? Also, would you say Northeastern is hard to get into, or is it just another college for Engineering students who couldn't get into their top schools? (I know the percentage of accepted students is in the 30s, but I don't think that necessarily mean it is hard to get into).

I'm an employer of engineers in CA. I would be very impressed by someone who went to a top school and have a Columbia grad working for our company. That said, when you are looking at schools like NEU, there are lots of engineering schools that I would consider in that mix. I would be much more impressed though with someone who had practical experience which the coop program at NEU would offer.
Lots of engineering grads get a diploma with little practical experience.

What about someone who has been published in a textbook and has real lab experience in biotechnology (internship), electrochemistry (undergraduate research), and nanotechnology (undergrad research) as a freshman that went to Northeastern?

you obviously knows thats impressive already.
