I know all the stuff about Who's Who Among American High School Students and the National Honor Roll, but I got something in the mail about the National Society of High School Scholars. Does this fall along the same lines or does it actually have some weight in admissions? Here's the website: http://www.nshss.org/. Thanks for the info!

Not really. I used their forum for awhile, but people rarely talk on there. I also bought their t-shirt, but it doesnt fit me anymore. I don't think I have gotten any benefits. It was a waste of $45.

There are scholarship opportunities, correct?

Some of these organizations are probably useless for college admissions but I think you should stop a bit to consider the possibility of being awared money.

Hi... Gues what! I also received a NSHSS certificate, but i am not even from USA, i am from Bulgaria, South-East Europe!! How the f..k they've got my personal info, my address and name!!! Frauds!!!

hey, i’m also for Bulgaria and I just got one…
I was just wondering…if it’s a bunch of people just wanting your money, how come they offer fee waivers? it says in mine: ‘Although we use membership fees for costs associated with nominations, benefits, scholarships…we would not want to exclude any student on a financial basis’

btw it’s really strange for a Bulgarian to receive a letter from the NATIONAL society… ;D

yeah i just got the letter too. I’m Singaporean.
I think they got our particulars from Collegeboard?
there’s no way they could find out the name of my school so I’m guessing it came from all the info I put in my collegeboard account profile.

If they were actually interested in recognizing good students, they’d do it without a fee. I threw it away as soon as I saw they were charging money.
