National Spanish Exam

As most of you regular know that we are an Asian American family from Laos. My DD has developed a passion in learning Spanish.

Last year she got #1 in the state and #2 in the country in The National Spanish Exam. This year, she did not do well and would possibly get around 4th in the country. I told her that she did great since there is just 3 or 4 answers different between #1 and #5.

Does this carry any weight in college application?

You ARE kidding, right? You said, "This year, she did not do well and would possibly get around 4th in the country."

I would certainly hope that you are working to reinforce the idea that "being the best" isn't the only measure of success. To be 4th in the country is phenomenal, and yes, that fact would be worth noting on a college application.

APM, did you even finishing reading my OP?

"I told her that she did great since there is just 3 or 4 answers different between #1 and #5." When I said "did not do well" I was merely stating a fact. I should have proably said "did not do AS well".

I am asking because my search on CC about NPE got no hit. I was wondering if this exam is a well known program.

The National language exams are well-known to people who know about language studies. Your D should definitely put any of her top performances on her college apps. Good luck.

It depends on her major and college, I would think more. For instance, MIT has no language requirement, or a minimal one, compared to the other top schools.
