i was invited by National Student Leadership Conference to do their programs. did anyone here get invited? did you go before? what do you do there? do you know anyone who went before, and what did they think about it?
ty

do not go

Just about everyone gets invited to NSLC, NYLC, NYLF, etc etc. These programs have nothing to do with leadership--they only come because of PSAT scores, and not particularly high ones either, most of the time. It does not really look good on college apps. They cost too much anyway. Three people in my current junior class went to the NSLC and they all said it was a waste--it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. Save your money for something better. You seem like a smart person; try getting into something a little more selective. TASP, RSI, a job or internship, something. Anything but these ripoffs.

its more or less a scam, don't do it. There is no prestige, everyone gets invited.

phew, thank you guys!

i also got invited to penn state "night for the arts" or something like that. it probabily has to do with admissions. I did do a program in my school where we went to hershey medical and i think thats how they got my name. that one doesn't sound bad....... does it?

does it cost money? Its most likely some type of admissions/information thing. Go if you want to but it won't help ur app or anything.

what about the Women's Technology Program at MIT? Its 3K for 4 weeks, but cmon guys, its MIT...and you get to hit on those cute RSI nerdboys. how else would you want to spend your summer?

as you can see I've given up on getting into RSI, so I'm scouting out second options...

yea almost everyone gets invited to those programs so really no prestige. i've know some people that have gone & have a good time. in my opinion, it's a waste of money. $2000 down the drain. do something else like volunteer or get a job.
