national universities and LAC equivalents

this is sort of how I see it

williams = harvard (#1 i guess)
yale= amherst (smaller, but still hyperselective)
princeton=swarthmore (don't know)
stanford = pomona (west coast/laid back)
MIT = harvey mudd
caltech = olin school of engineering (if you could consider it an LAC)

any other ideas?

is this really necessary?

HYP have no comparisons.

no............but is most of what's on here neccesary?

"hyp have no comparisons"

how so? for prestige, probably, but for quality of education, i'm sure there are a lot of schools that can match or even exceed hyp for undergrad education.

Swarthmore=MIT (Swarthmore has engineering and there is lots more to MIT than just engineering)

Mudd=Caltech

Davidson=Duke, Holy CROSS=Notre Dame, Swartmore=UChicago.

Vassar = Fleetwood Mac
Sarah Lawrence = An Insane Asylum

Seriously, these comparisons were kind of fun at first, but now they're totally random and overdone. Each college stands on its own as one thing. They are individual institutions that have their own outstanding characteristics; they do NOT have a parallel to the Ivy League, so you might as well be comparing them to insane asylums.
