<p>LOL. Last time I checked, Wisconsin was still entirely East of the Mississippi. If you see it moving West of the Mississippi, be sure to let us know, because it’ll be encroaching on our territory here in Minnesota, and we’ll need to call up the militia.</p>
<p>Perhaps you meant the University of Washington? That’s a major Western research university in the US News top 50 (#46). Also, the other major “Washington,” Wash U. (or WUSTL, as some prefer) is West of the Mississippi. Though not by much.</p>
<p>Still, that makes 11 out of the US News top 50 West of the Mississippi. That’s not too bad. The Midwest only has 7, or 8 if you count Wash U, which is really more Midwestern than Western. And the Southeast (excluding Texas but including Virginia) has only 8 despite being the most populous region.</p>
