what at some takes at national universities vs. lac?
anyone got any suggestions/ help on making a decision between the two? accepted at top lac, but not that great national university -- Umich, but not HYPSMD

What's the LAC? I'd say the undergraduate experience is generally better at LACs. Umich is an excellent school, though. Some of their departments are some of the best in the country for both graduates and undergrads. I too am having some trouble, I'm trying to decide between Oberlin and NYU. I think the academics might be better at Oberlin because you get more counseling at a small school and more attention in class, but NYU is still a great school and people know that name more than Oberlin, even though the quality of education is just as good. Anyways, it all depends on what you're looking for and which program you're going into. Also consider cost. Placement into grad school all depends on how hard you try in undergraduate years. It would be a bummer to graduate with a great degree and not be able to afford going on to get your Ph.d, which is kind of the situation I'm in. I'm likely to graduate undergrad with about $80,000 - $100,000 in debt. With grad school, I'll probably go in at least another $50,000. That's like enough money to buy a house, which can take 15-30 years to pay off for some people.

i think im going to go to wellesley. i got a pretty good financial aide offer, end up only paying around $2000

Oh, wow. That's an excellent school and an awesome package. If you're down for the all-girls thing, I'd say go for it, but that's just me. I'm sure you could be successful at Umich, too.
