Does anyone know how many spots usually become open when appointments are declined? I am starting to give up hope that my being on the national waitlist is just another way of saying that I was rejected?

alkim,

Applicants have been rejected outright already. Admissions are offered to many from the NWL each year. The NWL is a way for WP to let you know that they are interested in you. Keep in mind that offers are made to 1 candidate from each MOC's open slate of 10 nominees. Some will not accept their appointments. There will be spots to fill and those offers will be made to candidates on the NWL. Please keep updating your file with anything that may increase your WCS and move you up on the list. Keep in touch with your MALO and keep us posted. We all know how tough the waiting can be. Keep in mind that appointments can be made right up until R-Day. Have a good back-up plan, but keep working towards this goal, if it's what you really want. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your comment momoftwins, it was really helpful and encouraging.

alkim, I'll bet others here have more insight and I know that there have been a few people who have attempted to calculate the odds of receiving an appt via the NWL. You may find more information in the archives.

Did you see my answer to your first question?
