National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and CSI

Has anybody else received a nomination to this event in D.C. Summer 2009? Is anyone going to enroll?

If you have been nominated and attended this Forum before, could you give some insight into the program and this opportunity as a whole?

Thanks!

anyone?????

Yeah, I've been gettings these.
In fact, everyone at my school has been getting these.
I think if you have to pay 3,000+ for a program, it isn't worth it.
Honestly, you're just paying for an application booster to "help" your chances at college. ( These programs really don't impress admissions that much anyways).

I think these programs are a waste of money.

I got an invitation on one in National Security.

I attended a forum on medicine last summer and it was a lot of fun. Don't sign up though if you're just doing it for the sake of app padding.

I got one. Threw it in the trash.

Yeah, I've gotten a few actually. In my opinion, there are better things you can do with your time. Many people get applications, but few actually end up going. From my knowledge, an internship, job shadow, or something similar in your field of interest is MUCH better and helpful than the Forum.

It's also INSANELY overpriced. The best summer camp I've gone to (Business Week) only charges $295 by connecting you with a sponsor who pays for 2/3 of your cost. Another camp I went to, which was a bit selective, was absolutely free. Free room, board, and tuition for a week at a university along with a good deal of traveling. The best camps are those which cost the least, from my experience.

There are definitely better things to do over the summer, but if you have a good time, the price is worth it. Not every summer extracurricular has to contribute significantly to your college app.
