I just recently found out that I was nominated by my school for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine and I am at a loss at how important this is. Is this important enough to mention in my college application, or is it one of those programs that everyone gets?

It is not a distinction and doesn’t matter on a college application. Search for threads mentioning NYLF (and check the Parents Forum also). Others who have gone to an NYLF week seem to say it was a good experience, but it is fairly expensive and it’s not selective. If you are interested in the program and can afford it, by all means go, but don’t do it thinking it will look good on an application. (If you do it one summer, you would of course mention that it was a summer activity, but that’s about it.)
