I was nominated to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, and I'm trying to decide whether to go. The problem is, I'm not entirely certain I want to go into medicine, although I will probably pursue a related field, like dentistry. Is anyone familiar with this program, and its prestige in the eyes of admissions officers?

No prestige but it can be fun. You don't have to stick with the area of the nomination. Anybody with a decent ( like B ) GPA can go. My bro went for some international relationss sort of thing and he had a blast-- good lectures and nice people but not really worth a lot academics- wise.

lol....... these programs (national youth leadership forum, congressional youth leadership forum, etc etc etc) are all unexclusive and charge a ridiculous amount of money. plus, you can get nominated by a friend, or you can nominate yourself as long as you have a B average or something like that.

it just sends red flags to adcoms that you're from a wealthy household (which could work against you) and that you're willing to pay for such expenditures.

i've heard that it's fun, even though most of the people i talked to said it's a waste of money.
