National Youth Science Camp 2012!

Hey guys,

Is there anyone participating this year? Are there any alumni who can give some background info? What was camp like?

Bumppppp!!!

I applied this year, from Delaware. I’m not sure if I got in though, results haven’t come out yet, which has made me worry a bit…

Did you find out if you got in?

Bump 10char

Yeah, I just heard today that I got in! Someone start a fb group!

Woah! Hey guys, yeah I’m from PA as well ^ givemeIVY. I found out about a week or so ago, but it varies by state. I’m going to start a FB group!

I made it under National Youth Science Camp 2012

Woa. I got accepted to the NYSC 2012 as well!

I think what they do is supposed to be confidential (based on what I read on the website).

Hey guys, join the FB group!

Bumpppppp!!!

Bummpppp again!

Just got a lovely packet from the camp… the numerous release forms sure look reassuring. :P

Anyway, I’ll be one of the MD representatives. Can’t wait to see everyone in the summer!

Join the fb group guys!!! Also yeah I just got the packet too and all the waivers makes me feel like I’m voluntarily signing my life away XD

I just requested to join the group… unless it was the wrong one. There are just sooooo many NYSC 2012 groups out there. ;)

Hi guys! So I requested to join the FB group called “NYSC 2012 (National Youth Science Camp)” I hope that’s the right one! :D

Nice M3i1k0e! I’ve been waiting for my packet to show up but it hasn’t arrived yet :frowning:
I’m just so pumped for camp I’m going insane, lol… I CAN’T WAIT!!!

Hello All,

As an alumni of National Youth Science Camp and an employee of the National Youth Science Foundation, I offer my hearty congratulations on your selection to NYSC 2012. We are very excited to meet each of you and we can’t wait until June!

I thought I’d pop on to direct you to a couple of resources:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/NYSC2012/</a> - The Official 2012 National Youth Science Camp Facebook group. We are still getting everyone added, so please bear with us. There’s over 100 of you, so it’s quite the process. We’ll be answering questions there too, so once you are added, this can be quite the resource!

https://twitter.com/#!/nyscdotorg</a> - The NYSF’s twitter feed. Right now it’s posting general Foundation updates, but once camp gets started it’ll have content featuring your adventures at Camp Pocahontas. This is a good one for your parents to follow.

[2012 National Youth Science Camp | Adventure, science, humor.](http://2012.nysc.org/) - The official website for NYSC 2012. All the information you need for getting ready for NYSC! There is also an associated blog, where we’ll be posting program updates, photo galleries, and more. Another good place for parents who want to keep up to date!

I hope these are helpful in your preparations for the summer. Being selected as a delegate is an incredible honor and the experience of a lifetime!

Hi! Thanks for the information! The links you have posted were very helpful and I can’t wait for the NYSC to start this year. Again, I’m really looking forward to meeting all of you guys!

:D

@ AlexKinnNYSF I have a few questions about NYSC! So I don’t think I’m the most outdoorsy person ever (I’ve never gone camping before), do you think I would be able to manage all the canoeing, caving, climbing, hiking, and rafting activities? Is it only for the skilled?

Thanks :)
