National Youth Science Camp 2019

Hi all,

Anybody know how selective the program is?

Deadline extended to 3/2 11:59 EST

@EragonArya , i think selectivity of NYSC depends on your state and how many students apply. My daughter was accepted and attended last year and she loved it. I know the year before she applied, there were only three people in our state that applied for the 2 spots. We don’t know how many applied last year. I think some states publicize the program more than others. Good luck to you.

I applied to this too! When do we find out who is accepted?

@katedagreat , your state will notify you late march/early april.

I applied too! From Indiana

1st alternate for TN. I thought decisions were released later.

Wow! that was fast!

Anybody know how stiff California Competition is? Everything about this program sounds like heaven and I would love to take part.

Yeah I’m also wondering how competitive TN was.

Also does 1st alternate mean that I’m the only 1st alternate or am I among a group of people who are all 1st alternates?

I’m no expert, but to mean it sounds like the equivalent of being first in a ranked waitlist: you’re the first to be admitted if somebody can’t make it.

How did you find out? I’m also dying to know (along with any of my college decisions this friday!)

Did anyone else apply from Indiana?

@sumguy Someone from TN government emailed me.

Same with college admissions and my other summer program applications lol. Too much competition ?

just got the email! i was selected to be one of the Nebraska delegates

@pcmom1 Do they send out emails to the rejected applicants? Still no word yet from PA and it doesn’t seem to be a great sign considering people had gotten decisions already.

Still no word from Indiana either.

I was selected to attend from Virginia! I got the email on Tuesday April 2nd… I know when I emailed my state selection coordinator last week to see when decisions would be sent out she said she would “be in touch with all applicants,” meaning accepted, alternates, and rejected. It ultimately depends on your state’s selection process’s speed.

Is anyone still waiting on a decision? I still have not heard back and I’m from Indiana
