Native American and African American Applicant (Mixed) Chances

Hi guys,

I'm a Native American and African American applying for Harvard EA.

I know I wouldn't have any chance at ALL if I wasn't an URM, but I know that diversity is important for Harvard so I took a chance. I know I probably have a big change of being rejected or deferred but I guess I just wanted to test the waters, and just get past all the craziness.

690- CR
630-Math
720- Writing

Hooks: URM Speak English, Portuguese, Italian and French, Spanish

really? no one?

I believe it will depend upon your recommendations, your interview, your essays etc. With no offense intended your URM status is likely a consideration but will not supersede other important elements of your application. Can you paint a compelling picture of who you are through the portions of the application process I made mention of?
Of course I say go for it and wish you the best of luck!

Did you get in?

@GreatKid I agree about the URM thing. You still have to be qualified to go to Harvard. I’m black, but I’m not banking on getting into Harvard just because of my skin color. I don’t want that to be the reason I got in. I think that you’re SAT score should be just a little bit higher for Harvard, like a 2100 at the least. You’re GPA is fine, but your ECs are ordinary.

But now it’s Febuary - so did you get in?

@ilovethecity @0br0123 – just check the OP’s posting history. He/She was deferred and hasn’t visited CC since then.
