Native Language?

I never really thought of this, but I know that some colleges wont count SAt 2s if theyre in your native language.

What counts as a native language? Like, I live in Canada. My first language is English, and my parents speak only English. But I'm, fluent in French. French wouldn't be one of my native languages, would it?

You can ask the college. I would imagine it might depend on the college.

They might count it against you if you don't get a perfect score.

Just kidding. Let's take it to extremes: You say you speak four languages fluently and you prove it by scoring above 750 in all four tests. Do you think it won't count? I don't think they'd care if you scored a 0 in Math II!

Are you mentioning on the application that you are fluent?

I think it depends on the college. It shouldn't really count because French wasn't your first language.

im from canada too!=D
well, i dont think they will consider French as your native language its your "second" language
i think its the same thing as students in the states taking Spanish

just take French im sure its fine

okay thank you. im going to tell them that im fluent, yes. but i hope they wont count it against me, because none of my family speak french. i just was put into the immersion program.
