Nat'l Society of High School Scholars

What is it?
How many people are in it/how selective is it/ what are the criteria for getting accepted/nominated?
What's so special/unique about it?
What kind of an honor is it/ How prestigious?--> out of curiosity
and
What does being accepted do for you?

I'm just trying to learn some more about it, considering I got something in the mail about it.

I heard it's a scam.

Yeah I got that today too, though I doubt it's going to be helpful considering I just graduated :p but yeah it's probably a scam nonetheless.

I heard it was a scam as well..

uhhhhh///scam....

scam ... BS ... not worth anything

I just got something in the mail today and automatically assumed it was a scam.... has anyone actually done anything with it?

Yeah, I used the letter as toilet paper ;)

Tonyt88
yack ... i bet that hurt

Scammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I tried to tell my parents, but they don't believe me. So every time I get those things, I just throw them away and hope my parents aren't digging through the trash.

I got one today too.

That is so funny, my parents are exactly the same way, convinced that they have some value, and now that I've graduated they still think it will be helpful, so that's why I'm so eager to get the mail these days or else they'll be paying hundreds a month that they don't need to spend, but w/e.

It is a scam. Don't even bother opening the envelope.

Haha, I was wondering the exact same thing as quantum leap did.

I think these questions should also extend to Who's Who and the National Honor Roll.

As of now, they just appear to be sources of income for the people involved in running them.

I did notice that the NHR does provide a few scholarships. And from the http://www.nshss.org/ website, the High School Scholars does look more legit than the other two did.

But for Who's Who and NHR, I seriously doubt any selective colleges are part of the "90% of schools" that consider membership in these organizations in the admissions process.
