Does anyone have any idea what the numbers were for the last few years freshman profile to get an idea of what they will go up this year? I am borderline and since all I do is think about when I get rejected; I also started to think... Since they are offering admittance to LAS if you get rejected from Bus / Eng the inflation would inflation be even worse this year?

Yes, that would push up the numbers slightly because many engineering and business rejects have stats above the LAS average. But I don't think it will be a significant difference because UIUC's applicant pool is huge. The mean test scores and rank might go up a little but the median would most likely remain the same. I don't know why you're convinced you'll be rejected. Your 29 ACT is above the LAS average and probably makes up for your low class rank. I don't think you're borderline.

^Actually, the middle 50% for LAS is 26-30.

I said his ACT was above the average, not above the 75th percentile. The mean ACT for LAS is slightly above 27 for those accepted and 26.86 for those enrolled (http://www.pb.uillinois.edu/Documents/frprofile/profp12.pdf).

^what year is that?

It's from the class that entered in the fall of 2002. As the OP said, the scores will go up a little each year so the mean score for enrolled freshmen may be over 27 by now. His 29 is still above the average so he does not seem like a borderline applicant.

^It is above that. The middle 50% now is 26-30, so the median should be a 28, maybe a bit higher. This year it will also go up, at least it should with the new policy.

Go here and peruse through the charts; it does not yet have 2006 freshmen info yet but it gives figures for 5 years before that:

You can find middle 50% figures for 2006 at: http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/future/freshmen/requirements.html

^The 2006 mean ACT score for LAS should be atleast a 28 then.
