I would guess schools in Colorado (like CU-Boulder and whatnot). Also, check out Montana State and U of Montana. Montana's just beautiful country, so they can't be all that bad.

University of Colorado and University of Vermont. Also many LACs in Maine such as Colby.

UC Santa Cruz. The campus is stunning (in the mountains), only a few miles from the ocean, and there are all kinds of outdoorsy things to do. My sister went there and loved it. Great school as well, though a lot of people tend to write it off.

UC- Boulder, as several have mentioned, but if you are looking for an LAC, consider Colorado College.

Anywhere in New England or in the Rocky Mountain States.

places in washington state, upstate new york, wisconsin/minnesota maybe (lots of lakes)

Warren Wilson in N. Carolina, definitely

Northern Arizona University has OUSTANDING outdoor stuff.

I believe they have the best foresting dept in the country

^^

yup yup, that too. I think AZ is all-around amazing. =)

Reed has wonderful outdoor opportunities. It's not easy to get into but not ivy league (and you do work your butt off). I would imagine other schools in the Portland area are similar.

Maybe some LACs for you. St. Lawrence U is easy to get into, but it's not warm.

Colgate University, located in Upstate New York (Hamilton, NY)

You got the Adirondacks right at the back door! Amazing place to hike, ski, etc.

UC Boulder and Warren Wilson

There is no way you can beat UC Santa Cruz. Period. The campus is incredible and mostly wild, there are trails for biking and hiking and deer running all around the place. The beach is a quick bus ride away which tons of places for surfing. The gym has everything you would need and rents out equipment for camping. There are numerous camping trips on the cheap, as well as ski trips. If you are into the outdoors, you would be extremely happy.

Appalachian State University

Close to the U of Arizona:

Bumppp

Thanks for all that! What about midwest area.. nice weather/ nice environment...I'm looking for a therapeutic kinda place as well as a good school..

right now u. of colorado is my first choice
