I'm a senior that wants to go to the Naval Academy. Unfortunately, the nomination dates are overdue. I wasn't able to get the nomination, automatically taking me out of the drawing of going to the Naval Academy. I heard there is a prep school for Naval Academy. One of the officers told me that usually athletic students go to the prep school, and that my chances aren't that good.

Also taking 5 challenging AP classes this year.
I'm ranked in the top 10 out of 530 seniors at my school.

I've applied to the NROTC/Marine Option and have wonderful teacher evaluations.
On my Physical Fitness Test I scored a 246/300.
-16 pullups/20 pullups
-100 crunches in 2 mins(maxed out)
-3 mile run in 23:39
My interview for the NROTC went very well.

BTW. I'm Asian Indian and can speak a second language:)

Do I have a shot at the Naval Academy Prep School?

No. You’re prbly too strong. Your nomination issue is unclear. Did you miss the deadline for your Senators, MOC? Or did you not receive consideration for a nomination?

Can you specify, pls.?

Congrats on your good work. And best wishes for NROTC/Marine Optional success. That may be your best bet for the coming year, but in any case, you may want to consider reapplying.

246 is solid. You could easily 300 that test by the time you start ROTC. Just get the run time down, and get in 4 more pullups.

Doubt NAPS would consider you. Your academics are too good and clearly don’t need any extra fitness help. You could finish off your academy application, and see if you can get the VP nom? Its a long shot, but at least you can say you tried.

You don’t apply to NAPS, you apply to the Naval Academy and part of the selection proces is they might offer some the opportunity to attend NAPS. If you miss the published deadlines, we won’t get an appointment to the upcmoing class. Frankly, no one here can read your resume and do anything but guess at your chances for admissions. You can also gain insight into the type of individuals who go there by scanning the official Naval Academy website where they summarize the background of current mids.

I had straight A’s in high school then a 1.5 gpa my first trimester of NAPS.

Other than my reality check, there were several classmates I had that should have gone straight to the academy but got sent to NAPS for whatever reason. Sending their package in late I guess.
