Naval Academy Summer Seminar Acceptance Emails Are Out

I haven’t gotten an email or snailmail yet… I think i was pretty qualified too (77 cr 71 math 77 writing psat and pretty good grades and athletics…). I applied in late february I believe or early march…

My son chatted with Naval Academy on CollegeWeekLive (a virtal college fair). They said that 75% of acceptances have been mailed. All acceptances and rejections should be mailed by April 15, since application deadline was March 31.

yeah, 50freefly, i’m in the same boat as you man, i applied around the same time and haven’t heard back yet

same here.

OK, just to confirm this, acceptance/registration/tuition is officially due on April 15th? Because I was getting mixed messages after reading that we needed to send in everything within 2 weeks of receiving the letter…I was all in a huff last night after reading this, thinking I had plenty of time to get everything in.

I was accepted to the 1st Session, from (currently sunny) Seattle…I’m hoping to be sailing for Navy in 2010.

I STILL have not gotten any communication from navy about the NASS. Should I contact someone? They’d still send me something if I got rejected, right?

No, PLENTY of people don’t hear about their possibilities until April, even May. Don’t panic. Blessed are those who wait on USNA …

I mailed mine in like a month ago, i think it said that if you didn’t mail in by April 15th, you lose your reserved slot?? Not sure.

Does anyone know if they mail you something confirming that they got your application and cash?

i havent gotten anything back…but usna cashed the check, so i assume that they got it.

The NASS info ALWAYS says that. Some don’t even get it until later.

If you have sent your acceptance and you have heard nothing from USNA, you are probably OK. Two years ago, we were also nervous about not hearing whether USNA has received my D’s NASS acceptance and payment. The only notification we received was to inform us that she was about to lose her slot due to non-payment (remember, the payment and forms go in separate envelopes). It took quite a bit on my part to convince the folks at USNA that we really had paid, but all’s well that ended well.

Moral of the story: if you get a letter from USNA saying that you didn’t pay for NASS, don’t ignore it!

My son sent his in immediately as well and we were only contacted because I forgot to put our insurance number on it. I left it blank, meaning to grab the card later, and then ended up mailing it without it. So I know they got it at least, but no other confirmation.

I got an email telling me that I got wait-listed today…did anybody else get an email telling them the same thing?

Yes, I got it today, I applied late, on March 31st. I did not know about the summer program before then. Does anybody know how many people are on the wait list this year? Has anybody been on the wait list and actually got called to go?

I also got an email telling me i was waitlisted today… I applied in early march… Also waitlisted at west point’s but that was expected as i applied the last day.

A little bummed really, I had a 225 on my psat and am a recruitment caliber athlete… Not sure what went wrong.

wow…225 on ur psat…

i heard that NASS was basing alot of decisions geographically

where are u from? Im from socal 42nd district

I agree that it seems surprising with that PSAT score unless you’re from the greater DC area! My son’s was a 197 and he was accepted the first day they started sending them out. If nothing else, once you start the real application process and are working with your B&G officer, I’d have him check back into it and find out why you didn’t get in, so at least you know what area they’re looking for you to improve in.

I was accepted and I am from Central Florida anybody else from that area going?

I will be attending session 1 and then am attending Air Force session 2

CLARIFICATION

Just want to remind everyone to keep the following in mind as those NASS selections come out:

There are many factors in the decision as to who gets selected to NASS. Geography has a lot to do with it- as does your MOC district. It may prove easier to get an invitation from a state in the mid-west, than from a state on the east coast where USNA is better known. Also, the USNA looks for applicants from MOC districts where few apply to the academy, in order to stir interest.

NASS can be a 2-way sword. Do well, and it will be noted. Do poorly, and that will be noted too. You need to keep that in mind, and more importantly, you need to go prepared to do your best. Get physically prepared starting now, if you have not already done so. There is a lot of physical stuff, including lots and lots of running- so get a pair of running shoes and start running now.

Around 60% of the eventual appointees to the USNA will NOT have attended NASS. Some who do attend NASS may even decide USNA is not a good fit for them.

The message here is that this is not the end of the road by any means!! NOT AT ALL!!! If you opt to not pursue your application based on a “no go” to NASS it would be a big mistake!

My son still hasn’t heard about SS and applied on Feb. 1. Should we assume he has no chance of going?
