Naval Academy Video

I am a mom of a candidate for the class of 2010. A Navy mom asked me if I had seen the video available about the academy. Does anyone know how I can get it?

During my BGO interview, he showed me a video about USNA which he said was a required part of the interview.

I believe many High School Guidance offices have it. Or get from your BGO.

Good Luck!

Dad2b, you are so helpful! Thank you!

No problem!
His website @ http://www.empirevideo.com has VHS for $15.95 and DVD for $19.95 but no buy direct online links.

BTW: I haven't seen it yet, however my son has seen it 3 times now (NASS, BGO, CWV). It is actually a signoff for the BGO Interview, making sure the candidate has seen it.

you might also consider: Surviving West Point. It's obviously not on USNA, however, National Geographic does an excellent job of illustrating life at a service academy.

I agree with WP2010. "Surviving West Point" is a terrific way to glimpse the entire first year at any academy. It includes 14 one-half hour episodes so you'll see definitely see quite a bit. Here's a link to the best price I found:

Good luck!

Surviving West Point well worth the money to gain a glimpse into any of the academies....don't overlook reading "Absolutely American" by Lipsky as well.....a "must read" for parents as well as candidates!

Last year, "To Lead and to Serve," was on the CD that was included with the USNA catalogue. Is the CD included with the 2006 catalogue?

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

Yes, that is why the high school guidance office should have it. There is no 2005-2006 catalog until spring as I understand it.

What, no catalog sent to official candidates? Gosh, last year the catalog and application were sent to candidates in mid-June. I know that both the application and catalog are online now, but I wonder if that provides equal access to all applicants. On the other hand, I guess it's just more cost effective. Come to think of it, all of the University of California applications were online.

"To Lead and to Serve" is continuously shown at the USNA visitors' center, and it's available at: http://www.navyonline.com/
