I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem- I have three different teachers writing me recommendations, and as such they are assigned to different schools. My teacher has already submitted his rec through Naviance, but it shows him being assigned on the Teacher Rec section of every single school on my Common App, even though I didn’t assign him on Naviance to all schools. What is happening? I’m kind of freaking out.
You should talk to your counselor.
@HiToWaMom have, and she has no idea what is going on- I was planning on calling Common App support or something, but I’m unsure if they can even fix the problem.
The same thing happened to my D! She is applying to 11 schools. Teacher 1 is going to all 11, and Teacher 2 was only assigned to 5 in Naviance. Yet the Common App shows her as having sent to all 11. Fortunately, all of the schools allow 2, even if they only require 1, and D thinks the rec should be good, so she didn’t pursue it further.
Sounds like it should be handled by your counselor. I know you have talked with her but she should contact Common App? If she is too busy or that’s out of her responsibility, then you should contact Common App.
I’m so sorry for the mixup. I hope it will be resolved promptly.
yes, we have the same issue, not sure why it’s showing up on other apps and schools are so picky about the # of recs and “don’t go over” etc.
I talked to Common App earlier today via Live Chat: https://appsupport.commonapp.org/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=33013&_referrer=http://www.commonapp.org/contact-us.
They fixed a problem in about 60 seconds. Reach out to them.
Did anyone get this issue straightened out? I reached out to Common App today and this was their response:
“The way the Naivance system does the recommenders is that they will send an email notification and provide them with a list of ALL the colleges on your list. Unfortunately, Naviance does not make it clear to the teachers which school they need to submit to. That’s why it’s always good to remind your recommenders”.
They are basically saying it’s the fault of the recommenders even if you didn’t assign them in Naviance. Crazy…
They also said, if you want to remove a recommender, it’s better to do so BEFORE you submit your app. My D might just leave hers alone, but just in case…
