I'm getting well ahead of myself here, but trying to be proactive. I know that it's a good idea for students to talk to their teachers about getting letters of recommendation before the end of their Junior year. Our high school uses Naviance, so I know recommendations will get submitted through there. Are teachers able to actually SUBMIT their letters prior to the time the Common App becomes available? In other words, could teachers actually submit LORs through Naviance during the student's Junior year?

Our high school uses trimesters (UGH!), which means that my kids actually won't have a couple of the teachers they want to use for recommendations during the last trimester of this school year. In fact, since the high school is so large (almost 900 in their class), they don't even necessarily have the same teacher for the same subject each tri. (In other words, it's possible to have two different teachers for the three trimesters of AP Bio, or two separate teachers for two tris of Spanish IV.) I'm just thinking that they would get better recommendations when they are "fresh" in the teacher's mind, and by next fall, that won't be the case anymore.
