Naviance Supermatch

How accurate is the Naviance Supermatch?

What other Naviance features are helpful in “the correct” college search and application.

Also can some one please explain the terminologies: “Safe” “Match” “Reach”

If my child applies to 10 universities, how many should she choose to be match/reach.safe ?

Thank You

“Safety” as most posters on CC use the term connotes both an admissions aspect (i.e., acceptance is a slam dunk guarantee) and an affordability aspect.

I found the “scattergrams” on Naviance, which plot GPA vs. ACT/SAT test scores, to be helpful in giving a broad estimate on chances for admission, subject to various caveats (the Naviance data is self-reported; it can be hard to discern historical data; some outlier data points on the scattergrams/graphs are due to factors such as scholarship athletes; not enough data can suggest misleading results).

My kids each applied to 9 or 10 schools, with this breakdown: 1-2 safety; 5-6 match; 2-3 reach.
