Naviance vs Published School Profile?

I attend a California high school ranked in the top 100 nationally.
Obviously, because of this, we send a lot of students to the higher UC's (Berkley, LA, and SD).

My stats are on par when compared to the averages on UCLA's profile, but when I look at my Naviance, I am told that UCLA, according to GPA, is quite a reach.

At our school, an A- is a 3.7, so my gpa on Naviance is lower than my UC gpa.

Which am I to believe?

You’ll have to convert it when you report it. You’re right; your UC and unweighted gpa are higher than the one listed on Naviance. You should use the converted UC gpa.

My kids’ high school is also a top 100 nationally. When using Naviance, the stats of students from our high school getting into any school are generally lower than the posted stats for that school. I believe the colleges take into consideration the reputation and rigor of our high school which is what accounts for the difference. So, I’ve just used Naviance stats instead of the college’s posted stats when finding colleges for my children. So far it’s worked with both of my boys.

How unfortunate. So if the average GPA on our naviance for UCLA is 4.32 and my GPA is considerably lower than that, then do I have little prospects of getting in even though my UC GPA is at the UCLA profile average?

Go ask your guidance counselor about this. He/she will be able to tell you whether or not Naviance is accurate in this case.

My guidance counselor didn’t give me an answer that I was comfortable accepting.
At first she said that my chances were low and then I told her that my UC gpa was on the mark, and then she said I should get Berkley or LA, so… I’m not sure.
