ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Meineke Car Care Bowl between Navy and Boston College had the largest increase in television ratings from the previous year than any other bowl game. The ratings jumped 160% from last year's game between North Carolina State and South Florida.

This is not the first time that Navy's presence in a bowl game increased TV ratings. In 2004, the Emerald Bowl saw a ratings increase of 65 percent despite the fact the game was played during the middle of the afternoon and on ESPN2 (the year before the game was at night and on ESPN). In 2005, Navy's game against Colorado State in the inaugural Poinsettia Bowl doubled the rating of the bowl game that was shown in the same time slot the year before.

Pretty presumptuous, if you ask me, in the absence of a $100K market research study funded by some gov't. pork. BC might wanna argue the point. Surely Sen. Kennedy could get some pocket change to counter this notion. ;)

GO NAVY! Beat Eagles (next time)!
