Navy Football

Duke beat Navy? Was it the heat and the loss of your quarterback to heat exhaustion that turned the game in Duke's favor? Or was it Navy's new coach? Navy can score as the 41-31 loss shows.

Navy Falls a Little Short in Loss to Duke :: The Blue Devils rally from a 24-20 halftime deficit to overcome the Midshipmen, 41-31.

Good luck with Rutgers next week!

It was interesting that Kaipo succumbed to heat exhaustion the immediate play after he made an extremely luckily completed 35 yd 'hail Mary' pass into a crowd of Duke defenders. My seatmates were three old (even to me-Class of 50) Duke football players and they were amazed that both he attempted it and completed it. I think losing Kettari, our fullback, was more important than losing the QB. Our backup QB was the Alabama high school player of the year, also a senior, and, unbelievably the offensive captain, who did not accept a scholarship to Auburn when they refused to guarantee that he would play QB. When Kettari was injured, the loss of the first two options in the triple option killed us.

A guy walks into a bar in wearing an Army Football jersey and carrying a cat that also has an Army jersey on with a little Army helmet on his head too.

The guy says to the bartender, “Can my cat and I watch the Army-Navy game here? My TV at home broke down and my cat and I always watch the game together.”

The bartender replies, “Normally, cats wouldn’t be allowed in my bar, but it’s not very busy in here right now, so you and the cat can have a seat at the end of the bar. But, if there’s any trouble with you or the cat, I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

The guy agrees, and he and his cat start watching the game. Pretty soon Army manages to kick a field goal and the excited cat jumps up on the bar, walks all the way down and gives everyone a high five.

The bartender says, “Hey, that’s pretty cool! What does he do for a touchdown?”

The guys answers, “I don’t know, I’ve only had him for 3 years.”

Annapolis News Report: Football practice in Annapolis was delayed on Monday for nearly two hours. One of the offensive players, while on his way to the locker room, happened to look down and notice a suspicious looking, unknown, white powdery substance on the practice field. The head coach immediately suspended practice while the FBI was called in to investigate. After a complete field analysis, the FBI determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line. Practice was resumed when the FBI decided that the team would not be likely to encounter the substance again.

Nov. 15th....Baltimore....??

I can't see past Rutgers yet. I'm thinking a 1-5 or 1-6 record is looking probable thru the USAFA or Pitt games, if you go that far into the schedule. Losing to Ball State and Dook really hurt. Defense is still as porous as last year. <sigh></sigh>

If I were scouting/playing Navy, all I would do is throw short passes between the down linemen and linebackers all day long.

Anybody know a good defensive coordinator that needs a job?

usservicemom

that joke has been around the block several times now...........and doesn't really apply to USNA, they aren't having a problem crossing the goal line. Keeping the other team from crossing it is another story though

Anyone other than USNA Grad & Dad going to the WF game Saturday? Weather is a little nasty but hopefully it will blow through.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic game.

If Kaipo had come to camp in a little better shape this summer, we would be 5-0 now (Ball State keeps rolling and Duke just beat UVA). Bryant got the job done when Kaipo reinjured his hamstring halfway through the second quarter, but he, for some reason, has gone downhill drastically since last season. Redeemed himself somewhat late in the game with a few good runs.

Was it sloppy quarterbacking or great defense which caused the six turnovers? My vote is for great defense. We were dropping eight back for the pass defense and the three linemen put more pressure on their QB than I have ever seen by Navy in a while. We also had several 'moral' victories when their offense, needing short yardage on the goal line, need four downs to get it. Our defense played tough all day.

Game wasn't even close. ACC officials were horrible. Three questionable (read 'bad') chop block and holding calls killed three good drives for Navy. The start of the second half Angelo kickoff fumble was a blatant head tackle by WF, resulting in a concussion to our guy. Should have been the start of a drive for us with good field position but turned into a touchdown for them.

WF was a great host. Instead of the Rutgers crap from last year, at the beginning of the game they recognized all past and present military and civil servants, asking them, by group, to stand and remain standing, ending with the future military, the Mids, who, of course, were already standing. Really a nice gesture. And WF is so used to losing in the past that the fans were a lot of fun. Fantastic day. First time since 1985 that we have knocked off a nationally ranked team.

And Army nearly beat Texas A & M. Away also.

Hot off the press. Just got an email from a friend and this was from the announcers on ESPN yesterday:
Navy leads all non-BCS teams with wins against BCS team with 13 now..

got a call from our Mid late last night- he drove down to the game with a few of his shipmates- "awesome" basically dominated the short conversation! Even better, his best friend from home attends Wake Forest and his "house" was playing "host" to this small band of brothers..... needless to say, nice to have bragging rights after a long and rainy trip down! No doubt it will make the ride back a lot more fun!

as for mom and dad.... we followed the audio thanks to Navy all access.... the final quarter was a nail bitter even over the computer! So the big question is..... kaipo and airforce....what are the chances?

If it is a hamstring, which was the rumors yesterday, probably slim. the real question might be the odds of the old Bryant showing up. He was high school player of the year in Alabama and recruited by Auburn but they wanted him for safety and he wanted to play QB. He initially had a few problems with the Navy option but seemed to be catching on. When Brian Hampton was injured during the 2006 Rutgers game, he and Kaipo shared QB duties and by the end of the season, Kaipo was emerging as the starter. Last year Bryant was a close second and backed up well when Kaipo was injured. This year it is not so. He seems to have gone down hill. Hopefully, he can take more snaps in practice or somethng, and be more effective. With the triple option, to win, I think we need two good QBs. JMHO. Our defense figured it out. Maybe he will also. He does have the talent.

Continued: Our defense hammered Air Farce (Jim Grobe) last weekend. They were totally physical. One could hear the hits way up in the stands. If they play again next Saturday like this past one, we won't need a great offense. 17 points may win it.

Navy sold out fairly early on their allotment of tickets for the Navy/Air Force game. Will there be a sizable Navy group at the game in addition to 600 mids? I understand that between the AF base and USAFA, Chair Force is the biggest employer in Colorado Springs!

So glad I was wrong about Rutgers and Wake. Lost two we should have won, and won two we should have lost. BEAT AIR FORCE!

^^^ well lets hope you are on the money for this one! ;)

Go Navy, beat AF!
