Navy retains Commander in Chiefs Trophy

With Army's loss last night Navy retains the CIC trophy! Congrats MIDS!

"This one proved no contest. The Black Knights, who have allowed 99 points off 32 turnovers this season, gave away the game and a chance to win the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.

The coveted hardware, given annually to the winner of the football competition between the three major service academies, will remain in Navy's possession even if the Middies lose to Army next month. Navy, which has won the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy outright the past three years, beat Air Force 24-17 earlier this season and will retain possession."

Air Force 43, Army 7

Army gave and gave and gave, and Air Force capitalized again and again and again.

Adam Zanotti returned a fumble 98 yards, and the Falcons took advantage of an amazing array of mistakes by the Black Knights, scoring a school-record 36 points in the second quarter and embarrassing Army, 43-7, on Friday night....

why does Army losing give Navy the CIC trophy? if Army beats Navy then there would be a 3 way tie between the SA's.

Thus, no wins the CIC Trophy outright and it remains where it is..at NAVY.

ahh, i see

If Navy loses to Army, the CiC trophy might as well go to another school. When Navy wins, Navy wins all, not just by default.

It would be more depressing to lose to Army and win the CiC, then the other way around. Of course, beating USAFA and USMA is always ideal!
