Do mids live in particular dorm?

Hi gonavy....My S is in NROTC at NCSU. What kind of info. are you looking for?

No, the midshipmen do not live in particular dorms. They can live anywhere.

How is the unit?
Do the mids do a lot of things together outside of the NROTC program?
Do many of them participate in club or varsity sports?
What gpa do you need to maintain the NROTC scholarship?
Where have they gone or where are they going on summer cruises?
How are the commanders?

The unit is the largest in NC, bigger than Duke or Carolina's NROTC and beats them soundly in the team competitions they have each year. The NCSU unit has a fair number of students from the MECEP program..prior enlisteds who have come to NCSU on scholarship from the Navy to become officers. These guys offer some real life experience to the reg. midsshipmen.

Some of my S's best friends are ROTC guys but he has lots of other regular college friends too. One of his roommates is in NROTC and the other two are not.

Don't know the answer to the sports question. I
I believe you have to maintain a 2.5 to keep your scholarship.

They go all over on summer cruises. You are allowed to submit your top three choices for your cruises. Some assignments have been the Mediterranaen, Asia, Hawaii, different bases in the U.S., just about anywhere the Navy goes.
The Officers change out every few years as NROTC is just another Navy tour for them. I have not heard any complaints about them though.
