CENTER VALLEY, Pa. The Navy womens track & field team earned all three Patriot League weekly awards following its perfect 3-0 mark against American, Mount St. Marys and Towson last Tuesday in Annapolis.

Senior Loni Forsythe (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was selected the track athlete of the week, junior Jacquelyn Charnigo (Medina, Ohio) grabbed field athlete-of-the-week honors and freshman Abby Gesecki (Nanticoke, Pa.) captured rookie-of-the-week distinction.

Forsythe won the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes to highlight Navys 11 event victories last week. The senior tied the fourth-fastest 55-meter dash time in school history with a 7.15-second clocking, good enough to qualify for the ECAC Championship in March. The product of Chattanooga, Tenn., came back and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.51 seconds, only 0.04 second off the 10th-best showing in program history.

Charnigo claimed victory in one field event and tied for second in another to earn the leagues weekly honors for the second time in her career. The junior matched her season-best mark from last years indoor slate with a height of 53 (1.60 meters) to win the high jump and followed with a second-place clearance of 113-3/4 (3.45 meters) in the pole vault.

Competing in her first-collegiate meet last Tuesday, Gesecki ran the final-leg of the 4x400-meter relay that won the event with a time of 4:10.75. Earlier in the evening, the freshman tied for second in the 400-meter dash with a 1:00.52 effort, only 0.37 second off the first-place clocking.

The Midshipmen are off for final exams and will return to action following the holiday break on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the UMES Invitational in Princess Anne, Md.
