What a depressing game!!!

Though, Paul Johnson's call to review the field goal that Tulsa kicked should have been overturned. I personally looked at the play clock, and then at the field, and the ball was not snapped before 0. However, Tulsa probably would have made the kick on the next play.

Just a tough loss!

The way I see it Navy should have lost a game by one point...I'm so lame I don't even remember which team, was it to UMASS? When we played terribly and won by 1 point.

Today we lost by one point.

In my book the football gods are satisfied and we'll go on to win more games next week and beyond. :-)

GO NAVY!
BEAT ARMY!

Today's game turned out to be a shootout with Navy loosing by a mere point.

The officials definitely could have done a better job today. :(

I'm sure that Paul Johnson's response will be: "No comment."

But the ball never got there. It was blocked by Nick Graham of Tulsa, blocked the same way Navy's path toward growing national interest was blocked.

I recognize the author is talking about football, but methinks he's being just a bit overdramatic.

Of course, Navy is the only sport I even remotely follow, and the sports section of any paper I pick up may as well never have been printed, so maybe it's just my not being used to reading sports gossip.

As someone who was at the game -- it was depressing. I now understand why some hate the college (vs. pro) OT. It always ends on a team failing to score (vs. positive scoring).

Fact is that both teams had opportunities to win. Tulsa had 8 shots early in the game inside the 10 (2 sep drives) and came away empty. Score was truly reflective of the game.

Officiating was terrible, but not the reason for Navy's loss. At one point, the officials stopped the clock for the "2 minute warning." Hello. It's college. Overall, the officials didn't seem to have control of the game -- not in terms of fighting, of which there was none, but in terms of knowing the status, the clock, determining when to review, keeping the game moving, spotting the ball (each team got horribly good/bad spots), etc. I wondered if we got the Okla/Oregon crew!

Navy's problem is that, right now, it has trouble pitching the ball on offense. I don't know whether the QBs or backs aren't natural option runners or something else. But it limits their offense primarily to direct handoffs.

Still, it was good to see Navy play a team with which it was competitive. The game was fun to watch -- would have been more fun if we'd won, but that's life.

USNA1985: agree with you, it was a heartbreaker. Great game, but a heartbreaker never the less.

The stadium seemed stunned with that last block, especially the poor mids out on the field waiting to do their pushups.

Dare I say we were hoping for a bit of extra liberty for our plebe...rumors had been flying all week about the possiblity of an overnight.

Semper gumby.
