Navy2010 Alert

The Eagle summer schedule is out and America's tall ship will be visiting Greenport, LI August 4-7. Where exactly is that in relation to you? Stop by and say hello! Maybe the captain will be one of your old "dance" partners.

We are a good deal west of that (across from Stanford)- but you never know! Might just be a nice day for a car ride out to Greenport! Doubt any of my dance partners would have made captain- they had 2 left feet and are probably in the brig somewhere for all their drunkin antics! (something about you can't change the spots on a leopard comes to mind!) That is if they even ever graduated- well, one of them did- hope your son gets to sail on the Eagle! How exciting! Now she's a grand lady!

He will be sailing but in June or July. The later phases are the "swabs" of 2010.

Wish him fair winds and following seas- and if he see's "The 19th Hole" out there on the sound tell him to give a "hoot!" :)

He'll be in the South Atlantic like Bermuda depending on the phase he's on. But maybe the crew will take a wrong turn on the Thames and end up in the sound!

Bermuda?!!! They get to sail to Bermuda??!!! How come we didn't get to do stuff like that when we were in school? No fair! I want to do it again! (well, maybe not all of it again!)
Tell them to steer clear of the Bermuda triangle- I just watched a National Geographic special and now they think the whole mystery of missing ships and planes is due to the underwater release of methane gas- so tell them to swing nice and wide!
So tell me- hope you are planning a trip to Bermuda so you can see the Eagle come in under sail in all her glory!! And take lots of pics that you can share with the rest of us wannabees!!!
And should, by chance, they make that wrong turn and come up the sound, the view of Manhattan from the water is priceless! Can't go wrong either way they go!

Also in second phase:San Juan, PR...oh to be young and a cadet!

Have not had good experiences in San Juan- make sure your son travels in groups....of lots more than 2....and stay away from Old San Juan after 4pm and DEFINATELY stay away from the public beaches around there no matter what time of day it is-stick to the beaches around the main hotels- HUGE bias on my part- but just some words of advice learned the very, very hard way!

Fortunately he's taking Personal Defense class this semester. Good advice and I'll pass it along!
