Naw....this CAN'T BE!!! Errr...and chances?

Is it possible to apply for direct admit into Kelley, and if you're shot down from Kelley still get into their normal campus. Like....along the lines of..."Oh, you didn't get accepted into our business school directly, but we'll give you admission into the campus."

Or do I have to play it safe and apply into the general campus then transfer into the business school. Also, I've searched and read that maintaining a 3.0 will get you into Kelley, does strength of classes play a factor into that? Like...what if I take easy classes first year to get my GPA at a 4.0?

Oh, and...chances? Please please please!!! Hahahah.

What were your verbal and math SAT scores?

You don’t really apply to Kelley. You apply to IU and indicate that you want to major in business and then THEY will decide if you’re among the 5% they’re directly admitting into Kelley.

You will first receive notice that you’ve been accepted to IU, and then about four weeks later if you’re a direct admit, you’ll get a letter stating that.

If you’re not a direct admit as a freshman, you can apply as a sophomore.

I don’t know what you’ve read, but maintaining a 3.0 gpa will NOT “get you into Kelley” as a direct admit, although it may get you in later. I just don’t know about that.

I didnt know this when I applied but I learned. Kelley requires a 29 ACT / 1300 SAT and a 3.5 unweighted GPA for a Direct Admit. If you do not have those stats, they will just consider you for regular campus.

Slugger, sorry if we never posted the requirements before. Some of us know this because our kids were direct admits, so we should have made this clearer for you students.

Don’t apologize, I actually found out from someone that posted a link that stated that. I also asked the adcoms, thanks anyway.

Ohhhhh…okay

While we’re on the subject, students needs to maintain a 3.0 in order to stay in Kelley and to keep your faculty scholarship money. I’m not sure about other scholarships, just the faculty award.

IUB sounds awesome just a little far away from home (sigh).

How far away are you, Slugger? My son is friends with kids from as far away as North Carolina and New York, and I know kids are also there from California.

But if it’s a transportation thing, I totally understand. My younger son is looking at IU and a bunch of other schools and I’m really hoping he stays in the midwest so he can home whenever he wants.

Im from NY, but my number one school right now is Penn State, I loved everything about it but I’m scared about getting in because the ACTs today were difficult. My grades are on the lower end of their middle 50% grades, so theres still a good chance.

Well, good luck with that, it’s a great school. And don’t be afraid to pick up one of those ACT books to help you, and be open to taking the test more than once. My older son got a 25 the first time he took, a 27 the second time and a 29 the third time. My younger son, who thought he bombed the test when he took it, got a 28. He stayed at 28 the other two times he took it, though. You just never know.

I took it 3 times already, got a 25 everytime. I thought it did worse this time, maybe I did better. Oh well.

I feel all thread Hijacked :(

Sorry radronOmega!!! We didn’t really hijack the thread, we were more or less just chatting until you came back with the answer to my question, so we could proceed with the discussion. ;-)

I’ll ask again. What were your verbal and math SAT scores?

combined to a 1270.

1270 is a 28 ACT, so combined with a 3.4 gpa and all your extracurricular activities, I would say you’re in.

I just noticed, however, that 3.4 gpa is weighted. What is your unweighted gpa?

Hmmmmm, depends.

My weighted GPA 9-12 is 3.56, and unweighted is 3.3
If you take out my freshman year when I had straight
As, my unweighted GPA is a 2.9. My origional numbers
were 10-12 though, where i took more honors but I got
slaughtered hahah.

Grades from 9th grade count, regardless of their weight. Good Luck!
