NBA Playoffs

been a suns fan since i was little(charles barkely and kj and dan majerle days) yea this is our year. i dont bandwagon jump

The Suns struggled against SA the regular season and they did today even with Steve Nash playing at a very high level. The Suns dont have anyone who can legitimately slow down Tim Duncan, not even Shawn Marion or Amare did much to stifle his offense causing the Sun's defense to collapse and help; since Tony Parker and Finley were making their shots while playing solid defense, the Suns were put in a tough spot in making a decision of whether to help against Duncan or stick to their man. On top of that, the Suns game requires a small line up and offensive rebounds killed them and will continue to kill them the entire series. Suns will be lucky to get out of the round against the Spurs esp after losing game one at home.

As for Golden State, who knows. Did anyone predict them beating Dallas like that? No. They are playing great basketball and Baron Davis and Jackson and Co are playing Sun like basketball while having better defense. Do I think they can blow out another team like that? No. But is it fair to discount them after shutting down this years MVP and humiliating the number 1 seed? No. If Baron and Jackson and Richardson continue to nail 3's and push the tempo and play with energy, they will be an interesting dark horse in the playoffs. The Jazz will give them a different look but they are a team Golden State can push against and the Jazz will definitely not find it comfortable being in a running game just as Dallas struggled with it.

Chicago has played well all year long and will be quite a team in the future but against Detroit they don't stand a real chance. The backcourt for Detroit is too much for Hinrich, Gordon, and Duhon and they are noticeably getting bullied and beat up on the floor. They played well against the Heat but Detroit's experience and skill on the floor will make it a quick series.

I personally think itll be SA Vs Detroit but I'd love it if Chicago or Golden State or Cavs made it to the finals

Haha, it's understandable to see so many Warriors doubters since the Warriors haven't been contenders for a decade and it's easy to write them off. However, anyone who actually looks into the players and coaching on this team can see that they are very good. A little story:

Jazz beats GS 106-82; GS was a completely different team
GS beats Jazz 91-78; still a different team and without Baron Davis...fluke

GS makes trade to form current team

Jazz beats GS 104-100; a close game while GS was still meshing, only 1.5 months out of the trade

GS starts hitting stride and using their potential

GS blows out Jazz 126-102

Jazz coach says, "They just outhustled us all the way around," Sloan said. "They went after loose balls, and they made us turn the ball over. They were all over us defensively. I don't know if I've seen a team play as quick as they were."

That's how GS blew out the Mavs for the majority of the series. Unless you think GS is going to start slumping, the Jazz will not beat them at their current level, especially if Monta Ellis and Al Harrington show up to the second round. The Jazz slumped into the playoffs and didn't look too impressive in a long series against Houston. They don't have the experience + skill to stop GS at its best. This is why most people are guessing Warriors in 6.

It will be very difficult for GS to win out against the Suns or Spurs though. The Spurs have too much experience + skill and the Suns might be too explosive for GS to handle.

I agree the Jazz are a team they can defeat. However, after that their playoff road looks bleak but not out of sight.

Good call to whoever noted Gordon's strength off the bench. I entirely agree, I just noted that those five players need to be on the court at the same time.

About Gordon though, I think he could play the role of demoralizing Rip on the offensive end. Once he gets into his slashing/3 bombing zone, Ben is just too much to handle, especially with his beautiful shot.

Nevertheless, I think Chicago still needs one more year and a legit post up player. This does NOT mean a slow, plodding center/forward. They need someone who will just as easily run and play D, as they will play with some height some semblance of a back to the basket game.

Re: the Rockets game: there is no reason that Yao Ming should consistently fall to the ground. The calls were evident especially when they were replayed on the screen. I am willing to admit that the Rockets' game plan was totally screwy the first three quarters, but the calls were not going to Yao. All of a sudden he gets into foul trouble?

At any rate, they're bounced and it's time for Utah-GSW. I'd like to see who takes up the job of slowing the Loozer.

Oh and to be clear I wasn't responding to you flong, but to the other guys blatantly disregarding the Warriors :)

Harrington and Gordon will be huge for both teams. I strongly feel that the Warriors will get past Utah since Harrington bacn match up better than anyone on the Houston roster against Boozer. GS just seems to have that magic run in them, and when you have NBA calibur players, having them click is a very, very scary thought.

Also, if Hinrich is able to shut down Billups or Hamilton, then watch out. I won't count out the bulls JUST yet.

Wow, all i can say is that no-one and i mean NO-ONE can stop the Pistons when they are rolling as they are rolling right now. They haven't even lost 1 game in the playoffs yet and are just completely dominating their oppenents. I've watched every Piston game this playoffs and there is not one game that even looked like the Pistons were having trouble. They will go to the Finals with ease...

Sheed30 Detroit is rolling in the playoffs because they still have not faced a legitimiate powerhouse team. The only team in the East that could cause them problems is the Heat, and they're an injury, old age riddled team. How they fared against the Magic and a young Bulls team is not a very good indicator of how well they will play against a team that can produce better offense then the defense Detroit imposes (Suns/Spurs).

Detroit will win the championship. DTROIT BASKET===BALL

I think it's going to be Spurs vs. Detroit = boring championship

I would like to see Suns v. Bulls, a nice rematch from '93, just without Jordan, Pippen, and Barkley. lol.

I think we need more trash talk in this thread.

C'mon. We can do it! [flex arm]

lol, it don't matter, Detroit v. Phoenix is the match up I want, even though Detroit will completely dominate any team from the east or the west...

Phoenix vs. Golden State would be a crazy game...spurs vs. utah will be extremely boring so lets hope it doesn't turn out that way

lol, Phoenix Golden State is what i am hoping for...

I think the Bulls will win it all, detroit won't play as well in the other games (more importantly the bulls won't play as bad as they did). I want golden state or pheonix to win the west, but it's looks like the spurs will be tough to beat.

Nah, da Bulls are going to lose to the Pistons.

Bulls will lose to the Pistons no question. Spurs > Suns, Golden State > Jazz= Spurs > Golden State

Cavs > Nets, Detroit > Bulls= Detroit > Cavs

Finally Spurs > Detroit. Detroit has no body who can stop a big man in the paint which is why they lost to the heat last year. D Wade was able to play one on one instead of having defenses collapse on him becuase Shaq was manning the post.

Emmeline your a dork! Theres some trash talk : P

Yeah I'm hoping/praying to a higher entity that Suns-Warriors will be our Western Conference Final match-up.

Yeah, I know flong. Psst: I could use some of those Arcadian/Life-Plaza dumplings... :(

To be on topic:
