NC Governor School

So I got an email from my principal telling me I got into Governor School for Natural Science. The problem is I have still have not gotten anything in the mail for the admissions office. Am I the only one having this problem or is anyone else suffering from this? Also, is there anything I should particularly about Governor School? I would greatly appreciate the feedback.

I also haven’t gotten my letter but my principal told me.

My child attended NC Gov School West (Salem College) last year, and I remember that is was a couple of weeks between the school telling us and the official notice arriving in our mail. There will be a packet you will fill out and send
in with your payment. But then we did not hear anything else until early June, when they will let you know your room-mate information.

I know that we were nervous and frustrated at first, we wanted to KNOW stuff, lol. I spent all kinds of time scouring the web for every tid-bit we could find about the campus, the program, the schedule, wondering what to pack, where to get a room (we live far to the west of the state, so we drove to Winston-Salem the night before), etc. By al means find some good maps and familiarize your self with the roads/parking lots at the school and how to get there - but on opening day, they will have a LOT of people directing the traffic and helping you find your way, you will not be alone and lost.

The school itself is marvelous - the classes, the other kids, the instructors, the deans: my child enjoyed every moment of their experience there. I hope y’all have a wonderful time this year!

I finally got the letter, and I am attending GS East

Also, I did not get a packet in the mail

My D20 was also told she was accepted to NCGS East (Dance) but hasn’t yet received her letter. I was told they were mailed out a week late. Hopefully it comes today!

Oh and I already had to pay the tuition!

@Zeus456 Where do you live? Wondering if you are closer to Raleigh? We still didn’t get it here. We’re in northern Mecklenburg, but it’s kind of rural and our mail service is terrible. @amethatmics did you get yours yet? Our principal had us go ahead and pay the tuition! Tired of waiting…

Congrats to all of you. I attended in the mid 60’s at Salem. Loved my time there.

@chb088 I live in Cary, and I was lucky. My mail came after one week after the announcement came

Ours must be lost. Ugh

you should be fine

Yes but wanted to know what the letter said. Her guidance counselor is following up on it.

Honestly, in the letter, it says, congrats, assignment dates, acceptance, tuition/scholarships, student handbook, and forms

So I guess some of it would be useful. Hopefully they can send another one. We’ll need it to confirm her acceptable absence from other events.

I still haven’t gotten my letter. My principal gave me a letter written by my superintendent asking me if I wanted to go. I was told that I’m attending West.

@amethatmics That’s helpful! D20 is at NCGS East (Meredith) for Dance. Our mail service loses stuff all the time, so we never know whether it’s lost or just late. We drove through High Point University a few weeks ago when we were passing by (new location for NCGS West) and it was really beautiful. You’ll enjoy it there!

Okay all letters were mailed out approximately two weeks ago. They are now mailing her another one.

And we finally got the letter!

nice, what did it say?
