Chapel hill has released their acceptances for anyone applying there too
Why is everyone trying to log on… I told you for the billionth time they will have their decisions out January 30th… all the Early Action on the same day… Read a calendar
On the NC State Admissions account, that was pretty lame to do that, it was ALSO horrible for people to try to bypass the system, essentially hack a work around, doesnt seem like it would be worth it to get into trouble and have your app bounced, against just waiting 5 days/
@ZeeMeZeeYou why are you so condescending and care so much about being right? If people choose to panic or talk or look etc just ignore it. It shouldn’t personally impact you whatsoever.
UVA is also out today
UMD came out today also a week early
Just got logged in at 5:39 & nothing! Maybe not tonight after all!
Is their for any reason why their website is down other than updating results. I feel like in no way their website could go down due to high traffic. For that millions of people would have to be pinging their server.
There’s nothing on mine either and I logged in at 6:01. I guess we actually have to wait
That’s absolutely not true. The sole reason is because of people creating traffic. The server isn’t designed to handle this kind of traffic for good reason; it only has high traffic once a year. Furthermore, this is an ASP website, which requires a higher amount of CPU and RAM to process each page. Combined with the login system having to query a database, it’s simple to see how a website could go down this easily. Let’s say you have 8 GBs of RAM available, and each user uses 1 MB, a tiny amount, that’s 8000 users.
.
This is getting funnier by the minute. Frantic parent hackers and speculators in the nonfunctional infrastructure set up, performance, capacity and concurrent users NC state’s wolfpaw system can handle.
@YUNGMAK That is not how internet service works at all. @eddyrutty is completely correct in his description. NCSU would have 0 reason to expect massive traffic during the year except for decision release days.
You have no right to private sites unless explicitly granted permission. You also should know there is a very broad federal law on the statutes called the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Using password protected sites without explicit permission is shady.
@Duchesslt Yeah… I really regret trying my luck with the system. Absolutely horrified now.
@Duchesslt I’m not worried at all about getting results early, I just want people to understand how websites work.
nothing has changed…decisions are not out. just got into the site. Same number of emails.
People using the “hacks” do not violate the CFAA. Look it up…pertains to govt and financial institutions to mess with finance, trade and national secrets
While I don’t think people are going to get rejected just because they figured out how to get in (not necessarily hacking), I do think it’s pretty unethical and tbh ruins the fun of it. Like trying to find where your parents keep the Christmas presents.
Anyone heard officially on your application website? I see nothing!
