NC State 2023 Admission thread

@girlpower19 thanks for the response. I did some digging and found some other helpful info on their web site. Thanks again!

I got deferred :frowning: I have a weighted 4.06 gpa and a 1220 SAT. sucks because I actually tried in high school and just bc my SATs are low I get deferred. Also have a bunch of extracurrciculars and lots of leadership stuff. Like this comment if u agree the whole college admissions process is screwed!

NC state and Clemson are tied for my tops and now that I got deferred from state I’m worried ab clemson. You guys have any thoughts?

So Excited for Everyone! Mother is NC State Alumni (Undergrad, Graduate, Vet School) iTs a great school!

Is it easier to get in after changing your major from engineering once you get deferred? or should I keep my intended major of computer science and hope I get in during regular?

I have already fully committed to UNC-Wilmington, so I went ahead and told them I would not be attending. Hopefully that will let someone deferred in!

For those of you who did not get in Engineering at NCSU, my son has been very happy with Mechanical Engineering at UNC Charlotte. Go tour and sign up for the Engineering specific tour.

Can you apply for housing yet?

How is NCSU for CS?

My OOS D was deferred. About a month ago, she received an invitation to apply for The Shelton National Scholars Program at NC State. Notice says she was “ identified as a candidate for the program”. She submitted the Scholars program application and still was deferred. We are confused…

@ZeeMeZeeYou the reason that everyone thought that it would be before Jan 30, is that every year since 2014 it has been before the posted date of Jan 30. I went back on the admission Instagram site, and it was always between Jan 19 and Jan 28. On Friday the Instagram page “my story” posted the bell tower saying “its going to be a great Friday”. So, with the previous 5 years being before the 30th, it was going to be that day. Ended up being Sat. morning.

He is deferred from a couple of OOS schools so if you are OOS I wouldn’t worry too much as I think they lean to more In state EA and then the OOS get accepted RD. just my opinion from what I read

does anyone know if State sends acceptance letters in the mail after being admitted?

@GrBraxton yes, they do send acceptance letters. They just arrive a little later.

Any idea when financial assistance letters/decisions are made? Thx

I appreciate those that are posting admittance stats but really hope those that receive merit scholarships will report that information as well.

@Cheeringsection - Outside of Park and Goodnight, most of the scholarships awarded are need-based. That’s why you don’t see any mention.

Deferred to Engineering. In State and hoping for good news by end of March.

My son was deferred Instate (Durham County) -

32 ACT
3.95 GPA
NC Governors School
4 yr swim team member and Captain for 2 of those years
NC Governors page
Lots of leadership roles in school and in the community

It is so competitive - I am glad I am not applying to colleges now - I would have never gotten in!
