NC State 2025EA Admission Thread

same i had a 1430 sat as well

I was deferred. Bio major with human intent.
4.4W/3.83UW
1470 SAT
11 APS
15 Dual enrollment credit hours
Top 25%
All AP’s senior year and A’s in all 1st sem. Hoping this will help.
Does anyone know how many deferred applicants are actually admitted?
Also are we allowed to send LOCI?

Honestly it kinda feels like they just didnt read some apps

So frustrating that we have to wait until march end now.

Deferments could be related to the major/school you applied to - I think each has different requirements/standards?

I think a lot of colleges are deferring students b/c grades were so weird (pass/fail, etc.) last Spring. They view Fall 2020 grades as an additional data point.

Good luck all!

my deferred stats
OOS (CA)

3.74 W/3.61 UW 6th semester gpa ----> 7th semester GPA 3.81 W/3.63 UW
SAT-optional and in top quarter of class
Applied to sports management

Good ecs= internship and a job
Good essays and a lor

Hi all

I got deferred from biology

GPA: 3.16 UW and 3.89W
Test Scores: had 29 to submit but scored 1450 and submitted in december
Go to top 10 school in NC
Senior and junior year dual enrollment
State level award and did research with professors

My midyear is looking bad with my GPA to drop to 3.03 due to my dad’s surgery and family getting covid. Do I have any chance of getting in ? Also was I deferred because I submitted my test score late ?

Anything could happen tbh maybe its because they saw higher test scores and thats why they deferred to look at your application again

I do know one person who got rejected, but this was a reach school for them.

You should not have been deffered wtw. I have similar stats, but your’s might be a little better even. I got in out of state so that does not make sense

I know right… hopefully i’ll get in.

My daughter was accepted in state
4.0 UW 4.5 W
Was able to take SAT once 1400
20 honors, AP, DE total
1/236 at a subpar public school
3 sport varsity athlete (not recruited)
Multiple leadership roles with a great essay and LOR

Sometimes it’s easier to shine at the subpar schools where there isn’t as much competition. Was repeatedly teased for being a “try hard”, when we moved to her HS from out of state.
One thing about admissions is that they are consistently inconsistent at best. AO’s want to create a diverse class and also have to include from rural counties. Stats don’t seem to be as reliable as in the past and so it’s hard to compare yourselves with others when you don’t know about how the essay was written, LOR, activities, community involvement, etc. Hang is there until RD is finished,; you’ve done all the hard work already. Good luck to all!

How does one know they have “strong essays”. Seems super subjective :woman_shrugging:t2:

Son was accepted for College of Natural Resources. In-state, 31 ACT, 3.9 uw gpa. 5 APs + 2 Dual enrolled sciences. Several strong ECs directly tied to choice of major, and essay was about that topic also. I think that last bit is important, at a school where you have to be accepted into a specific college & major you need to convince them why you really want that major. Waiting to hear more about scholarships he has been offered at some others, but State has been his top choice all along so we are feeling relieved. He was prepared to be deferred because his class rank is not great & senior year schedule is kinda light.

Have seen a lot of surprising deferrals for human bio especially. Maybe an extra competitive set of applicants, and/or they just want to see Fall semester grades. You have excellent stats!!
