Anyone know how many students are accepted by the College of Design each year?
Any advice about what to submit for the portfolio review?
I know that in my first-choice major (Art + Design) around 30 are accepted, unsure if similar numbers apply to the other disciplines like Graphic Design, Industrial Design etc.
There’s a pdf about the specifications for the portfolio on their website somewhere, what they’re looking for varies based on the major. I do know the College of Design focuses on the process a lot, or how you got from a to b rather than just the final product.
Update-- according to this link (https://oirp.ncsu.edu/students/admissions/final-admissions-status-report/), around 170-185 students are accepted to the COD? These are from 2014/2015, but still.
thanks!
The numbers are about the same for the Class of 2021. It’s competitive but these kids ALL come out with jobs. I have a child in the program as a Freshman. Hang in there and don’t put any deposits down until you have to. Some acceptances come late.
Architecture historically accepts the most applicants. In the past this number was between 40-50 while A/DN was 28 and Graphic was 26. Also brace yourselves for some applicants getting accepted without having an interview while other have to wait until the end of Feb./early March for decisions.
