My D is on waitlist for Art + Design in COD. Her last notification in Wolfpaw was Dec. 21 and said “a final decision on your application will be made by May 10.” Still no change in her Wolfpaw. Curious what @anonymcat14 work colleague had applied for.
colleague was undecided.
no one has heard something positive, my private counselor used to work for NC State admissions, and she knows people there. Nothing really has been sent out so far. Colleges are playing chicken with each other right now on who will release waitlists first, as no one knows how this year’s waitlist will work out, if many people applied to many extra colleges, or if this year will be just like any other.
Thank you for your reply. This is all very interesting and I had not thought about how kids start jumping ship once waitlists are released.
I don’t get that. They immediately know if they need to use the waitlist after they hear back from everyone. To me, If your argument is that NC State needs time to calculate their yield, let me mention this; People heard back from them last year (arguably less coordinated than this year) around May 5-9th. So why they would be hesitant to release those decisions and potentially loose out on interested students as they go deeper into the college they’ve already put a deposit down on, doesn’t make any sense.
I agree. I think its more likely there may be less need to pull from the waitlist this year. Not sure how many are following this forum, but the lack of postings from those accepted or denied from the waitlist remains curious.
You don’t think there might be people who have been waitlisted from multiple colleges? and that they may hear from another college before state? and that when they hear from a different college that they will say no thanks to NC State? They are waiting for more people to be filtered out I presume.
No need to be angry Wild
So they are waiting on people to start leaving the waitlist? I guess that could be a possibility. Anything is possible. But isn’t that what the loci’s are for? My thing is that as the days go by, people are going to have more pressure to start actually committing to another college. Even if they want to remain on the list. There is a point of no return for committing to a certain school. For most of us, that date is coming up. The further into this month that we go, the more rude it is to pull out of another school. The reason why I’m a little anxious is because I got into one of my top choice colleges, but I want to go to NC State. I’ve put down the deposit and have a lot of respect for that school, and I really don’t want to appear rude for pulling out last minute. Especially since I know that some of their faculty are looking forward to having me there. I know this isn’t the case for everybody, but I cant be the only one thinking this.
A possibility is that maybe some of the people who were accepted to State are pursuing a waitlist at another school, so perhaps there are some spots there that will potentially open up.
does anybody know when NCSU typically releases the waitlist info? is it mid May? or June?
According to the forums from last year, it started a couple days ahead of May 1 and continued that week.
wow, thanks.
As of now,…nobody heard anything yet? either good or bad…
nothing here yet. If I had to guess, 37k applications for 4k spots probably means waitlisted folks are SOL but who knows.
I haven’t heard anything yet, and my Wolfpaw account still says it will notify me by 6/15 vOv.
Same.
I heard from some people on previous years’ waitlist that we should expect answer/calls to start by the end of this week, so I haven’t given up yet.
Anything yet?
nothing
Nope, no change.
Has anyone actually spoken to or had contact with admissions since May 1?
