Waiting to hear about aid but not holding my breath.
35 Act (800 Math Sat)
OOS admitted into CS and Honors.
Do Honors students live together then? What are the other benefits of honors?

Iām curious, for someone with your stats (that math score is ridiculously good), is this your top choice?
Daughter accepted to Honors & Scholars, (first year engineering). Weāre in-state, her other top choices are Ohio State, Virginia Tech & Purdue.
Thank you for the compliment! I will pass along to my daughter.
She applied to NC State after she was nominated for Park by her high school. She made it to semifinalist but did not progress. She really likes NC state and is excited about getting into Honors. But waiting to hear about cost. Itās a slow process.
She also applied to Auburn, GA Tech, MIT, UIUC, USC, Rice, WashU, Tulane and RIT.
Same here. From PA and got into pitt, PSU, OSU with merit. My daughter is interested in the NC State biomedical and waiting to hear on merit. Hard to pick NC state with no merit when the closer schools all gave meritā¦
He applied to WVU, Ohio University, and Nc state. Ohio gave him almost 17,000 which is hard not to take when he probably wont get anything from State. They are the same distance (7-8 hours) so that doesnt really matter. He is doing chemical engineering with paper science a nd Ohio does not have that. Waiting until the beginning of April to really decide when we find out the aid or he might decide to do Ohio after we visit next weekend. The wait is hard.
My son is a Junior in the Honors program and loved his first year experience(until the world shut down and they were kicked off campus). They do have separate housing, which has its ups and downs. There is a dining hall at the honors dorms area which is nice, but the dorms are housed farther from the center of campus. He had access to a number of shows and experiences locally in Raleigh that he enjoyed. Also, slightly earlier class registration than non-honors, which was huge in getting into class. In short, do it as there is no downsides and there has to be some extra prestige graduating from the honors college. Just my .02.
I havenāt heard anything else about the alternate list. I wonder if students will be picked after May 1st?
So were the shows and experiences in Raleigh some thing that was offered through the honors program? Thanks for your input. Very helpful. Are you 00S?
Same here. Anxiously waiting to hear about aid. From everything Iāve heard I know we should not be expecting anything, but still hopeful. Itās hard bc we like State but other schools have offered money.
Yes, as far as I remember everything is in Raleigh, although they did/hopefully will again have honors spring break experiences. Those trips and experiences were limited in capacity and so they do have to sign up early.
Has anyone already heard on departmental scholarships?
I mentioned on other board my daughter received hers on Friday. Just thought I would post it here for others.
Which department? Thx
Another great visit to NC State this past weekendā¦itās in top 2!
Engineering (sheās CS)
We are heading to campus at the end of the month (from MA) and all the tours are booked solid. How doable is a self guided tour? Iām afraid it wonāt give her the best impression - do you think the admissions office might be flexible enough to let her hop onto a tour? We donāt need the info session, so maybe if we just tag along on the outside parts?
very doable. We live 3 miles from campus.
We were there from OOS this past weekend for new student acceptance day on Monday. We toured the campus on our own on Sunday, and it was extremely doable. We walked the entire campus. We had lunch at the Talley Student Union and had their delicious home made ice cream there as well. We went into the Carmichael gym and walked around there too. We saw everything! Print out a map of the campus too so you are familiar with the buildings as you walk by.
Haā¦probably saw you there!
